The International Aquatic Plants Group is comprised of researchers, scientists and practitioners who are based at universities and research organisations throughout the world. The IAPG is an interest group whose members specialise in all aspects of aquatic plant science, including botany, genetics, ecology, physiology, conservation and management.
Every two to three years, we have a conference to share scientific advances with our community and to continue to promote a collegiate atmosphere that facilitates discussion, debate and collaboration. Past conference information can be found here.
Past meetings have been arranged under the auspices of SIL (International Society of Limnology) and the EWRS (European Weed Research Society), from which the current IAPG arose. We are not a formal society. An ad hoc International Scientific Committee forms to oversee the conference and its outputs, while a local organising committee looks after the conference management. The next, and 16th International Symposium on Aquatic Plants, will be held in Antwerp at the historic Hof van Liere building in November 2023. For further information on the next conference, contact Jonas Schoelynck.
